| The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till |
You gotta' see this movie!
To escape future mistakes, we must remind ourselves of the past. It is painful, but necessary.
Filmmaker Keith A. Beauchamp reminds us of our painful legacy in his documentary film "The Untold Story of Emmett Louis Till".
"The film that helped reopen one of history's most notorious cold case civil rights murders is the result of the director's 10-year journey to uncover the truth.
Many consider this case to be the major catalyst for the American Civil rights Movement that changed the course of history.
In August 1955, Mamie Till-Mobley of Chicago sent her only child, 14 year-old Emmett Louis Till, to visit relatives in the Mississippi Delta. Little did she know that only eight days later, Emmett would be abducted from his Great-Uncle's home, brutally beaten and murdered for one of the oldest Southern taboos: whistling at a white woman in public."
Many thanks to the J.V. Brown Library for putting this wonderful film on their shelves.
